About me

I have been doing Martial Arts for more than 20 years , I first took it up when I was in my late 20’s training in Shotokan Karate under the watchful eye of Sensi Bill Stone which was in Tredegar. I was working as a door supervisor at the time I felt I needed something more practical by way of self defence so I joined a class in Ebbw Vale under the instruction of a young Sensei called Sensei Alun Williams, the system he taught was called Goshinkwai Yawara and I loved it !  I continued to train under Alun right through the transition into Total Body defence and I attained by 2nd Dan Black Belt.

In 2015 I approached Alun, suggesting that I would like to run my own TBD school in Abergavenny, where I now live.  I wanted to share the knowledge Alun had taught me over the years and shortly after completing my Level 3 coaching with the B.J.J.A.G.B I opened it at Verve Martial Arts Center.  This is a state of the art, fully matted Martial Arts and fitness center in a prime location and owned by Leigh Haslett (2nd time British Kick Boxing Champion).  The center is fully equipped with a huge range of equipment and training aids.

I continue to develop by training with Alun and through the teaching of my students of whom I am also very proud and hope in the future to be able to progress to attain my 3rd Dan Black Belt.
